Makena is a drug that was intended to prevent premature births. But the FDA says it is not effective, and should thus be taken off the market. It did encourage the manufacturer to continue to prove the drug’s efficacy with further testing, though. Read more here.
This is important for you because babies who are born prematurely can have health problems later in life; but the FDA has a responsibility to try to ensure that the drugs it approves do what they claim to do.

CVS and the pink tax
CVS is subsidizing their house brand of menstrual products, and paying the sales tax on other brands (in states where it is legal for them to do so) “in a growing effort to close the gap between the cost of women’s and men’s personal health items.” Read more here.
This is important for you because it is ridiculous that CVS should have to address this disparity– but at least someone is.
