Home births with a trained midwife can be as safe as those in a birthing center
A retrospective study looking at all midwife-assisted births in Washington state between January 1, 2015 through June 30, 2020 found that those planned to be at home were as safe as those planned to be in a birthing center. Read more here .

We’re still the only rich country without federally mandated paid family leave
Thanks to Senator Joe Manchin from West Virginia—he who killed the clean energy plan—mothers in the US who need money (ie, all of them) are screwed. They still have to quit their jobs after giving birth or go back to work before they can fully recover, or rely on someone else to make money for them. This is especially nefarious in a country that seems to be on track to making it difficult to prevent pregnancies, and to forcing women to maintain pregnancies they don’t want. Read more here .
